Video: The Singapore Strut – Eldee Young

Eldee Young brought me joy on my frequent trips to Singapore in the 80s and 90s. One night in 1988, I wandered into a club, discovered some great music and made a friend, jazz master Eldee Young. Eldee began his career in Chicago as one third of the Ramsay Lewis Trio, left with drummer Redd Holt to form their own group, Young-Holt Limited, which won its own Gold Record with The Soulful Strut. In the 80s and 90s, Somerset’s Bar in Singapore was their musical home. I shared lots of laughs with Eldee, as you will see. And listen to The Singapore Strut.

Eldee Young passed away in 2007.
