A Two Minute Video That Travels through the Six Countries of the Mekong
In 1996, I spent a month on a video/photo assignment traveling through the six countries of the Mekong River: Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and China. The video was pre-HDTV. I thought the footage was doomed to obsolescence but now it is realizing a new life. Artificial intelligence software has allowed me to remaster it to 4K high definition. Granted, it doesn’t look like a pristine feature on Netflix, but it is vastly improved and the technology is getting better by the day.
More importantly, it and other videos I am continuing to post, show the region before over development took its toll. This new technology is becoming a boon to documentary filmmakers.
