Review: Nikon D80 Digital SLR

I was a holdout, suffering several years with dainty point-and-shoots. They made decent pictures but responded as slowly as George W. Bush does to a geography question. Adjusting them amounted to navigating a Pharaoh’s pyramid of menus marked by hieroglyphics that would befuddle Indiana Jones. They also did not offer the decisive, satisfying thunk of a decent SLR.

I have a deep satisfaction when a mechanical device does what it is supposed to do, when all of the buttons are labeled correctly, in the correct place, reachable by the correct finger or opposing thumb. I found that in the Nikon D80, my first digital single lens reflex camera.
