Unconventional Wisdom – David Bellamy Comes Clean

David Bellamy finally came clean. In the few weeks since we interviewed him, he has admitted that his data was wrong, that global warming WAS melting glaciers. The botanist, conservationist and former BBC host got the scientific establishment’s hackles up when he debunked global warming. His confession, however, was to late to save him. According to New Scientist he has been virtually banished from conservation organizations he once headed. Despite that, you may think he makes great sense on other subjects. Bellamy is a true believer in science, in the notion that science can solve earth’s problems. He believes we have reached “peak oil” but that of new energy sources including fusion, could save our future. And while he does not think global warming will doom us, he believes pollution is a deadly problem. David Suzuk and Bellamy, who may not agree on other matters, both say asthma caused by pollution is an epidemic that gets very little publicity. Bellamy also sees ways that tourism can help restore damaged environments.
